Can you think of anything more tempting than your favourite chocolate bar coated in sweet, golden batter?
Ingredients
- Olive oil, to deep fry
- 100g (2/3 cup) plain flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg, lightly whisked
- 125ml (1/2 cup) water
- 4 Snickers bars
- Bought chocolate sauce, to serve
- Pure icing sugar to dust
- Whipped cream, to serve
Method
- Step 1Pour enough oil to come one-third of the way up the side of a saucepan or small wok. Heat over high heat until temperature reaches 180C.
- Step 2Meanwhile, combine flour and baking powder in a medium bowl. Make a well in the centre. Add the egg. Gradually add the water, whisking, until you have a smooth batter.
- Step 3Coat the Snickers bars in the batter, shaking off excess. Fry the bars, in two batches, for 1 minute or until golden. Drizzle with chocolate sauce, sprinkle with icing sugar and serve with cream.
